Privacy policy

Last updated 9 October 2026

P8 is a free menu bar radio for macOS made by Sarper Erel.

P8 does not collect, store or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.

What stays on your Mac
P8 remembers your settings — appearance, whether to resume the last station, which station you last played, which music app you search songs in, whether you have seen the welcome window, and when it last checked for updates. These live only on your Mac and are removed when you delete the app.
What goes over the network
To play a station, P8 connects directly to that broadcaster's servers for the audio stream and, for most stations, to the broadcaster's own service for the current song and artwork. Like any internet request, these servers receive your IP address and basic connection information. P8 sends them nothing else; their handling of it is governed by each broadcaster's own privacy policy.
Finding a song
Only when you right-click a song and choose to find it, P8 hands its artist and title to the music app you picked. For Apple Music, P8 first looks the song up with Apple's public iTunes Search service, which receives the artist, title and your country; for Spotify, the search goes straight to Spotify. Nothing is sent unless you ask, and each service's own privacy policy applies.
Update check
The version downloaded from this site checks once a day whether a newer version exists, by asking GitHub for the latest release. GitHub receives your IP address for that request, as with any web request; P8 sends nothing else. A version installed from the App Store has no update check — the App Store updates it.
AirPlay
Choosing an AirPlay speaker is handled entirely by macOS.
Children
P8 collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this ever changes, this page will be updated before the app is.
